THE HIGHEST HIGH

There is no greater high than accessing our creativity. We were born into Creation and are creation, ourselves. Our main function is to CREATE! What a relief to know that we truly have no higher purpose than creating. It is, without a doubt, the purest, natural high that we can experience.

The words create, creating and creativity often have different meanings to different folks. It is a word that runs the gamut, yes, the scope is incredibly broad. Dancing, painting, singing, drawing, making babies, nurturing, gardening, sewing, writing, storytelling, praying, meditating, poetry, decorating, crafting, participating in sports and games, cooking, etc....... the list is VERY extensive and as limitless and infinite as, we are ourselves.

Over my many years on earth I have a question for anyone who is complaining about their life and declares unhappiness upon themselves. That question is, "What are you currently doing that is creative?" As you may very well expect, the answer is ALWAYS, "Nothing!" This led me on the quest to find the key that unlocks the doors to happiness for all of us from all walks of life. I have found in conclusion is that creativity is the direct link to happiness, the key that unlocks the door, so to speak. The best news of all is that it is at the end of our fingertips, completely within reach and easily accessible at any given moment.

Perhaps, early training has led us astray, giving us the messages that we have to be serious or a "professional" dancer, artist, writer, actor, musician, athlete, and so on. We lose our confidence with age and become victims of our own beliefs and ideas that we are not good enough. Generally out of fear of criticism or ridicule.

Our beliefs are only thoughts and ideas that have hardened and it is only ourselves that we are to blame. Softening those beliefs will certainly free and most often, the happiness that you acquire will turn into bliss. Imagine that!

There are many books available that are aimed at helping us to knock down the blocks and overcome the obstacles that we have put before us in our minds, that prevent us from being creative, which is our natural state of being. As very young children, all of the traits and characteristics of our innate creative selves are pure and unbridled. At that age in a person's life, we call it "play". To remain in touch with the things that come naturally is difficult in a world full of work and making a living, bringing home the bacon and keeping our gas tanks full. We have been taken away from what we were born to do and trained into a world of learning skills that will earn ourselves a living and fit into a civilized society.

Remember, if you will, when you were at an age when you sang and danced openly, drew and colored pictures to be proudly displayed for all to see, told stories and role played without inhibitions. Go back to that place and bring it forward to this here and now moment. Recreate those memories and that feeling for only five to ten minutes a day. This is an example of the quote by Lao Tzu, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step." With amazement you will find your happiness level increase in what will seem like no time at all. There is a long list of benefits that you will experience through being creative. I will write about them at a later date, as there is far too much to mention in this short blog. And, just as you did as a child, do not judge your "play". It does not matter if you or anyone else would consider it good or bad. It does not matter, that isn't the reason for doing what you do when you release your creative spirit energy. There is no destination... only a journey.

It is with pleasure and deep fulfillment that we will encourage and inspire others to do the same. Spreading happiness only increases our own amount of happiness and joy.

I encourage you TODAY, in this HERE and NOW MOMENT, to do ONE creative thing..... mindfully. Draw a simple picture, write a sentence or two or three to tell a story (whether it makes sense or not), sing a song, plant something in the garden or a container. It is just that simple.

And, tomorrow, if it comes..... do it again or try something new to add to the mix. For goodness sake, PLAY!
